What is Naturalization?
Naturalization is the way immigrants become citizens of the United States. If you were not born a citizen, you must be naturalized to become one.

1. Completing your application
  • Complete your application to become a U.S. citizen using our easy and reliable system
  • Take two passport size photographs
  • Gather the required supporting documents (you will be provided a Document Checklist, when you complete your application)
  • Make sure each of those documents is properly completed and translated (if necessary)
  • Be sure to keep copies of your completed application and supporting documents for your records,
  • Mail your application package to the correct USCIS location (we strongly recommend you to mail it by Registered Mail and keep the receipt).

    2. Getting Fingerprinted
    • Receive an appointment letter from USCIS
    • Go to the fingerprinting location specified in the letter
    • Get your fingerprints taken
    • Mail any additional documents if USCIS requests them
    • Wait until for USCIS will give you a date for an interview
     
    3.Being Interviewed and Tested
    • Receive an appointment from USCIS for your interview
    • Go to the assigned office for your appointment at the specified time
    • Bring identification and provide any additional documents USCIS requests
    • Answer questions about your application and background
    • Take the English and Civics tests (When you complete your application, you will receive our editions of “How to prepare for your English Exam” and “Citizenship Study”, which includes 100 Official INS questions with answers!)
  • Receive a decision from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

    4.Taking the Oath
    • Receive a ceremony date from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (formerly known as the INS)
    • Check in at the ceremony
    • Return your permanent resident card
    • Answer questions about what you have done since your interview
    • Take the naturalization oath
    • Receive your Certificate of Naturalization
